How to make this marble bundt cake with walnuts

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease a bundt cake pan or a tube pan.

Use a hand mixer, a stand mixer, or a whisk to mix the eggs, sugar, and oil in a large mixing bowl until pale and frothy.

Stir in the vanilla extract and the milk.

Add in the flour, baking powder, and salt in the bowl with the wet ingredients.

Use a spatula or a hand/stand mixer to combine all the ingredients.

Pour about 2/3 of the batter in the prepared pan.

Stir cocoa powder into the remaining batter in the mixing bowl.

Pour the chocolate batter over the vanilla batter in the pan. Use a skewer or butter knife to swirl the batters together.

Add the chopped nuts. Bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.

Transfer to a wire rack and let sit for 15 minutes before unmolding the cake onto the wire rack.

Let cool completely before serving with a dusting of powdered sugar (optional).

I LOVE how this bundt cake turns out every time! This perfect round shape and the bundt pan designs make this cake look so pretty, and the cake tastes delicious. Enjoy!

Tips and Tricks

  • Grease the bundt pan: This is a very important step. Make sure to grease the bundt pan evenly. This will help with the cake’s easier removal from the pan.
  • To remove the cake from the bundt pan, remove it from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for 30 minutes. Use a knife to loosen the edges of the cake, invert it onto the wire rack, and let it cool.

Storage

Keep leftover marble bundt cake, well wrapped, at room temperature for 4-5 days. I also cover it tightly and keep it on the counter for a couple of days. Honestly, it does not last more than 2 days before it is all gone but I use this cake stand to store it.

To Freeze

Wrap well in plastic wrap and freeze for up to 1 month. Defrost at room temperature.

Variations

Change the flavor profile with these ideas:

  • Coffee – you can add a tablespoon of instant coffee to the cocoa batter. It elevates the chocolate flavor.
  • Nuts: Instead of walnuts, try this bundt cake recipe with pecans, almonds, macadamia nuts, or hazelnuts. You can toast pecans and almonds before baking but use raw hazelnuts or macadamia nuts so they don’t burn.
  • Cinnamon – add a tablespoon of cinnamon to the cocoa part for a delicious and festive flavor, perfect for the holidays!
  • Chocolate chips – add chocolate chips to the batter to give the cake an extra chocolatey flavor!
  • Funfetti – Add sprinkles to the vanilla batter to give this humble marble cake a special birthday look.
